Racing through the summer and reports
One of the things that has been missing for sometime over the past few year in the summer ski racing is a central place or places where reports about various races can be viewed online.
Daz Fellows has a fantastic writing style and reported on the Grand Prix series last year and these reports were posted on Britski and the SSE website. These reports are a powerful tool to help promote ski racing during the summer and help increase the participation. It’s reports like this that are also useful if you are a racer or a parent looking for more of a complete view of the season, it’s also good to catch up with races if you are unable to attend.
In these times when we are all looking for additional funding such reports can be very useful when completing those forms for funding, somewhere to point the organisation as well potential sponsors.
It’s something we have been weak on at ERSA and hopefully for the forthcoming season we will be able to see more reporting from the races published on the ERSA website. Initially that focus will be ERSA races and possibly the national races in the region, depends if we get the chance to get everything in place in time.
Nationally hopefully there will be more coverage of the various races, not just the Grand Prix series but the Club Nationals and possibly more. There are a couple of other initiatives taking place which will hopefully make it possible to have at least one centralised national site which can bring things together, but time will tell.
