Where does £300 go??
In the recent Racer Ready magazine Tim Fawkes responded to a previous article about the British Indoor series and the SSE Grand Prix series. Now that is a debate which will continue for a long time, pros and cons on both sides, and certainly a lot of history and little flexibility on either party.
But one of the points raised was about the £300 Club National fee and what this covered. All he said was it covered the expenses for the TD and training for officials. Now I know it covers the TD expenses, but that still leaves a lot of money in the pot. It has never been cleared to those running the races where it all goes and no one has really put it down on paper. So to hear it goes on training officials was a great surprise!
They run an annual Level 2 course which people pay for, at a discounted rate, but still that is a lot of money to cover the costs of these courses. I’ve been on a Level 2 course in the past but that was it, what other training are they referring to? It was also interesting that he said we still relying on a small number of officials, yes this is true, but there are ways of improving that.
Anyway I will be responding initially asking where the money actually goes and how it is split and go from there.
