ERSA AGM
It’s the ERSA AGM in October just after the Champs at Hemel. Lots of changes this year with people stepping down and others coming in.
Earlier in the year at the start of the season I took the conscious decision to step down as Chairman of ERSA RTP. I had someone in mind to take over and at the same time I was planning on standing for Chair of ERSA. The person I had in mind for RTP was hesitant initially but once I explained what I was doing it was fine.
At the same time we have the secretary, vice chair and treasurer all stepping down. I’ve found a new parent to take over as secretary so that is good, may have someone for treasurer although not 100% sure but no one for vice chair just yet. Hopefully this coming weekend at Brentwood I will be able to fill the final positions. It could be an interesting meeting though as the current Chairman of ERSA hasn’t said if he is standing down, despite not being involved any more and taking any part for the past couple of years. Hopefully won’t be an issue but time will tell.
One of the reasons for wanting to stand though was that last year I stepped back a bit and was able to take a different look at the sport, especially as I was becoming somewhat disillusioned with the unnecessary politics that were around. This year though made it the aim to get more involved again and also look at how we can improve things more. One of those areas was to get more new parents involved in the organisation, something which has worked quite well this year.
Also want to see how we can bring in more information about other snowsports and publicise more about what goes on in the region. I also want to hook up with other regions if they are willing to try and share more information as some sites have stacks of information on and no point replicating things. It’s all going to take time but I think with some of the parents now getting involved can start moving things forwards.
One thing I am conscious of and have had a bit of feedback on this from parents is the lack of information for new parents. Something which I hope I can address over the winter. Also what has very clear is that there are several out there with good ideas and suggestions and willing to put them forwards. Some we will try and and see how they go, live and learn, as long as we listen to people out there things will continue to progress.
October 4th when it happens.
