More on the £300 spend
A few weeks ago I asked the question of how the £300 from a club national fee was split up, being that in Racer Ready it said there was a split between TD Expenses and training, can read it here. As mentioned at the time it was clear that TD expenses need to be covered (but not always the same amount each race) and that some will go to training, but not all of it.
Eventually received a reply as to a summary of the breakdown. It’s buried on the SSE website on this page under the heading of Club National Charges 2008. IT’s a good breakdown of the costs and as expected more than just training. As it says in there the current money gained from a club national does not cover the total costs involved, which means only one thing, they will be looking to regain more of that money next year somehow as it is likely this year was very similar.
However reading through the breakdown it is interesting to see how it is split. My guess is the breakdown with be similar this year but the more I have been thinking about it the more I am convinced that there are several places where money can be saved, a little here and a little there. It would make a difference to the overall spend and in turn the amount required from a CN. Thinking outside the box would help and also a better explanation of some of the items as they are not clear. There are some areas that are not straight forward and will remain the same. I am sure this is something that is being looked at very closely, as the easy option is to raise fees but the tougher option is to look more seriously at the expenditure.
I totally agree it is a fine balance for running the races throughout the country and on the snow and it is not an easy job to do and will certainly take a long time to get done.
Anyway good to see something online, have a read and form your own opinion.
